When American Idol finalist Jessica Sanchez returned home in Chula Vista, California, she created quite a frenzy and was greeted with cheering fans all through the way.
As Jessica along with her two younger brothers paraded the town, thousands of eager fans excitedly lined the city streets to get cheer the 16 year old. As soon as she landed in the city she headed straight to the Eastlale High School.
People magazine quoted Jessica as saying, “I feel amazing.” She took the opportunity to express her admiration for the people of Chula Vista for having supported her and showered with love and affection right through her journey from the sleepy town of Chula Vista to the finals of “American Idol.”
If she hadn’t already noticed how much the City loved her then, she must’ve definitely felt it when the mayor officially announced 12th of May as “Jessica Sanchez Day” in Chula Vista. To which she did what she is good at and belted out Whitney Houston’s, “ I Will Always Love You” showing again her lung power and amazing voice to leave the residents speechless.
Sanchez who has a mixed Mexican/ Filipino background then paid tribute to her father by performing “Dance With My Father” by Luther Vandross at the USS Midway Museum. A few days back n the show she had revealed that her father who is serving actively in the US Navy would be going to Singapore on deployment.
“American Idol” officials have planned to air the homecoming episode on TV. The other two contestants from the top three, eventual winner Phillip Phillips and the Joshua Ledet were also greeted by cheering fans during their homecoming.
Ledet was welcomed with signs on every business and a parade in his hometown of Westlake, La while Phillips was given the Key to the City by the mayor of Leesburg, Georgia.
